Paddington Maida Vale

Paddington-Maida Vale the area of northwest central London centered around Paddington Station. The area is known for having a large selection of budget and mid-range hotels, but it is of course also possible to splurge here. With Paddington Station as your hub, a very large part of London is within easy reach.

Paddington and nearby Bayswater and Lancaster Gate consist chiefly of Victorian houses of which many have been turned into hotels, B&B's and rental apartments. The apartments are usually what gives you the best value for your money. Keep in mind that Victorian houses tend to consists of several floors and be without elevator.

Maida Vale is located to the north, and unlike Paddington it is almost entirely a residential area. St John's Wood is one of the most expensive areas of London to purchase a home in.

Hostels

Wake Up! London Backpackers Hostel at the corner of Queens Gdns and Devonshire Terrace offers inexpensive dorm beds. Mostly frequented by young travelers.

Green Man Bestplace Inn Hostel is a cheap hostel located above a pub at Edgware Road. Suitable for party people, and highly unsuitable for travelers who long for peace and quiet. Both dorms and private rooms are available.

A two minute walk from Paddington Station will take you to Equity Point London at 100-102 Westbourne Terrace. The sleeping facilities are both clean and reasonably priced, and the price includes bottom linen, breakfast and internet access.

Budget apartments

Royal Court Apartments at 51 Gloucester Terrace offers self-catering apartments in a convenient location.

Palace Court Studios are located a 1 Palace Ct, near the Queensway tube station. Apartments are available for 1-3 persons per apartment, and all apartments come with their own private bathroom and kitchenette. There is also a communal room for washing/drying. This house has an elevator and Wi-Fi.

Budget hotels

Bluedaws Hotel is a clean budget option located a 2 minute walk from Hyde Park and Paddington Station. Singles, doubles and triples available. Room prices include breakfast.

Umi Hotel London, also known as Umi Hotel Bayswater, is located near the Bayswater tube station. This hotel opened in 2007 and features 117 rooms.

Ascot Hyde Park Hotel is a popular budget hotel found on 11 Craven Road, a few minutes from Paddington Station.

Mid-range hotels

Royal Norfolk Hotel consists of two Edwardian London terraced houses that has been converted into a hotel with 60 en-suite rooms. You'll find this hotel on 25 London Street near Hyde Park.

Brynteg Hotel is actually a Bed & Breakfast. It is very clean with modern bedrooms and private bathrooms. You will find this B&B on 109 Sussex Gardens, a two minute walk from Paddington Station.

Quality Crown Hotel Paddington has small but modern and very clean single and double rooms. A fitness room is available for hotel guests. The address for this hotel is 144 Praed Street, which is very close to the Paddington tube station.

Luxury hotels

Directly at Paddington station, you will find the Hilton London Paddington. Its connected by footbridge to Paddington Railway Station. The bright and airy rooms are decorated in art deco-style and have marble bathrooms and wireless internet access.

Lancaster London is situated alongside Hyde Park. Ask for a room with a clear view over the park. There are two restaurants in this hotel, one Thai restaurant and one Island Grill with with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Hyde Park.

Danubius Hotel Regents Park offers great views over Regents Park and a scrumptious breakfast. A must for the (well heeled) cricket fan since it looks right over Lords cricket ground.
